सत्संगतीत राहावे
Remain in the Company of Saints

---

नेहमी संतांची संगत करावी.
We should always keep the company of saints.

परमार्थाला संतांचे अधिष्ठान आवश्यक आहे.
Spiritual progress requires the foundation of saints.

संत आपल्याजवळच असतात, त्यांना पाहायला कुठे जावे लागत नाही.
Saints are near us; we don't have to go far to see them.

चित्त शुद्ध नसेल तर संतांच्या जवळ जाऊन तरी काय उपयोग होणार?
If the mind is not pure, what use is it to even go near the saints?

त्यांना आपण देहात पाहू नये.
We should not see them merely as physical bodies.

संत हे काही देहात नसतात, ते जे काही सांगतात त्या साधनात ते असतात.
Saints are not just in their bodies; they exist in the spiritual practice they teach.

आपली विषयलालसा सोडल्याशिवाय त्यांची भेट होणे शक्य नाही.
Unless we give up sensual desires, we cannot truly meet them.

संताकडे एखादा चोर गेला तर त्याला त्याची खरी भेट होईल का?
If a thief goes to a saint, will he truly meet the saint?

तो ज्या हेतूने जातो त्या हेतूने त्याला फार तर तिथे चोरी करता येईल,
At most, he may be able to steal something if he goes with that intention,

परंतु संतांपासून जे खरे मिळवायचे ते साधेल का?
but will he obtain the true gift the saints offer?

आपण जर चित्त शुद्ध करून गेलो तर आपल्याला त्यांची भेट होते;
If we go with a pure heart, then we truly meet them;

आणि भेट झाल्यावर, जे त्रिभुवनातही मिळणार नाही ते ते देतात.
And once the meeting happens, they give what cannot be found even in the three worlds.

एकजण एका संताकडे नेहमी दर्शनाला येत असे.
One man used to regularly visit a saint for darshan.

तिथे इतर मंडळीही पुष्कळ असत, पण तो कुणाशीही बोलत नसे,
There were many people there, but he never spoke to anyone.

कुणी काही विचारले तर उत्तर देत नसे, सदा मुद्रा खिन्न असे.
If someone asked him something, he wouldn’t respond and always looked gloomy.

कुणालाही त्याच्याशी बोलावे असे वाटत नसे.
No one felt like talking to him.

असे काही दिवस गेले.
This continued for some days.

पुढे एके दिवशी ते सद्गुरु म्हणाले, "माझा तो वेडा कुठे आहे? तो आज का आला नाही?"
Then one day, the Sadguru said, “Where is my dear mad one? Why hasn’t he come today?”

हे त्याने ऐकताच तो आनंदाने उड्या मारू लागला,
When he heard this, he began to jump with joy,

आणि जो तिथून निघाला तो पुनः आलाच नाही!
and the one who left from there never returned!

तो कशाला येईल?
Why would he come again?

गुरूने एकदा आपल्याला 'आपले' म्हणावे हेच शिष्याला मिळवायचे असते.
A disciple only seeks for the Guru to once call him “mine.”

ते त्या गृहस्थाने ओळखले, आणि म्हणून त्याचे काम झाले.
That man recognized it, and thus his goal was fulfilled.

गुरू तुम्हाला 'तुम्ही माझे झाला' असे म्हणत असतानासुद्धा तुम्ही ते ओळखत नाही,
Even when the Guru says, “You have become mine,” you fail to realize it,

कारण तुम्ही विषय बरोबर घेऊन आलेले असता,
because you bring worldly desires with you,

आणि विषयाची प्राप्ती व्हावी असा हेतू मनात असतो.
and the mind carries the motive of fulfilling those desires.

याउलट, गुरू तुम्हाला निवृत्ती देतात.
In contrast, the Guru grants you renunciation.

निवृत्ती दिल्यावर विषयाची प्राप्ती व्हावी ही आठवणच जाते.
After receiving renunciation, the very memory of desires vanishes.

जसे तहान लागल्यावर पाणी हवेसे वाटते,
Just as when you are thirsty, you desire water,

पण तेच पाणी पोटभर प्यायल्यावर नकोसे वाटते,
but after drinking fully, the water becomes unnecessary,

म्हणजे त्याची निवृत्ती होते.
that means renunciation has occurred.

आपला यावर आज विश्वास बसायचा नाही;
Today, we find it hard to believe this;

पण हा विश्वास बसायला भगवंताचे नामस्मरण केले पाहिजे.
but to gain this belief, we must chant God's name.

नामाने ते कार्य होते, म्हणून नामस्मरण करीत जावे.
This transformation happens through the Name, so we should keep chanting.

नामाने काळजी वाटणे नाहीसे होते आणि मग तळमळही आपोआप जाते.
With the Name, anxiety disappears, and restlessness fades on its own.

मन आपल्याला विषयाचा आहेर करीत असताना आपण त्याला नामाचा आहेर करावा.
When the mind offers sensual gifts, we should offer it the gift of the Name.

आपण आपल्या अंतःकरणाला नामाची धग लावावी;
We should ignite our inner being with the fire of the Name;

त्याने अंतःकरण उकळले की दोष वर येतील;
As it heats up, impurities will rise to the surface;

ते काढून टाकले की अंतःकरण शुद्ध होईल.
Once removed, the heart will be purified.

शुद्ध अंतःकरण ठेवून नाम घेतले,
If we chant the Name with a purified heart,

तर भगवंताच्या कृपेचा अनुभव येईल.
we will experience God’s grace.

नामानेच अंतरंग शुद्ध बनते.
Only through the Name does the inner being become pure.

नामानेच मन अंतरात प्रवेश करून स्थिर बनते.
Through the Name, the mind enters inward and becomes steady.
